Leicestershire Police announce summer drink-drive campaign results

M.A.J. LAW
7 July 2015

The annual summer campaign on drink and drug driving across Leicestershire has led to 35 people being arrested.

The 35 arrests show a significant drop in the number of drivers arrested for drink or drug driving compared to 84 made during last years campaign.  However Jonathan Clarkson, spokesman for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership, said: ‘There are still drivers out there who are flouting the law and putting themselves and others at risk.

‘We’re very aware the summer months can present opportunities where people are tempted to drive after drinking.  We’d advise drivers to plan ahead by leaving the car at home, sharing a taxi or taking public transport or alternatively nominating a designated driver who is fit to drive.’
