Yet another drink driving trial was won at North Staffordshire Magistrates’ Court.
Neither of the police officers who were warned to attend court for the trial actually attended. As they had both had sufficient notice to attend the trial, the prosecutor contacted their Sergeant who believed that the officers had attended court. Telephone calls were then made, but there was no response from either officer.
The CPS applied for an adjournment which was refused, leaving no choice but to offer no evidence and dismiss the case.
Costs were also awarded.
